At the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games was the moment she made history as the first athlete to achieve a perfect 10, in bars that were symmetrical. In addition her score, she added six more perfect 10s and became the most youthful Olympic silver medalist. Nadia Comaneci was able at attracting international attention to assist in helping Romania establish itself in the global spotlight. This sporting legend became a global sensation when she achieved an impossible performance. The legend she created was legendary, and helped popularize gymnastics across the world. Additionally, it altered perception of women athletes by the public. It was because of the effect she made at the Olympics, that both the movements toe-on (toes on) and the release move were named in her honor. They've remained till today, as tough. Apart from the Olympics she was also a star in the World Championships and European Championships. Her achievements have made her one of the top gymnasts of all time. She also modeled and promoted the sport of gymnastics after having moved into the US.
